The Curriculum

In providing for your children we are guided by the requirements of the National Curriculum and the requirements of Lincolnshire Education Authority.

The provision at Hogsthorpe Community Primary School takes account of every aspect of a child’s development. The curriculum gives children the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards of numeracy and literacy whilst ensuring they can become confident in physical, artistic, practical and social skills. We provide a broad and balanced education allowing for the individual needs of each child to be met within well-planned learning experiences.

Our school motto is ‘Success for All’ and this is reflected in our celebration of success at all stages of a child’s school career. Children are encouraged to think, discuss, share, persevere and respect others. They work individually, in pairs, in small groups, within year groups, as class groups, and occasionally in cross-Key Stage groups, depending on the learning activity being undertaken. Classroom based activities are supported by a range of educational visits.

Excluding the daily act of worship, registration and breaks children in KS1 are taught for 23 hours and 45 minutes a week and children in KS2 for 24 hours and 35 minutes a week.

Children in Reception follow the ‘Foundation Year’ Curriculum which contains Early Learning Goals. It is closely aligned to the National Curriculum which is delivered to all children from Year 1 to Year 6.

Religious Education is taught through the ‘Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus for RE’.
